Why your actual CPC is higher than your Max CPC bid

Your actual CPC (reported in your campaign and keyword dashboards) can be higher in the following cases:

  1. With manual bidding you are using Enhanced CPC.
  2. You are using portfolio (automated) bidding strategies for your campaign.

Above strategies will increase or lower your bid automatically if the Google Ads engine thinks a certain click will lead to a higher conversion value eventually increasing your final results.

If you like to stay below a maximum CPC, then use manual bidding in Expert Mode like in the screenshot below.
